My DVD Recorder goes into Pause mode every time I try to record something. It then returns to Record function for about Half-an-Hour,and then returns to pause. Is it repairable or just knackered? I have only had it 3 months so still in warranty. Many tanks for any replies..

What sort of dvd recorder? A pc drive or a stand alone for your tv?

How are you setting it to record? Timed recordings a specific recording?

Has it always behaved like this, or is it recent?
Question Author
Hi,Ethel, Its a stand alone DVD Recorder(Cyberhome Make) Just doing ordinary manual recordings and it is only recently it began acting up. It is only a cheap one,but should still work OK.
When you set the manual recording, how do you do it?

Do you set the channel, date and time to start and finish, or do you just press one button to record now?

Hello again,Ethel,I only press one button to record and stop it manually when programme finishes. I have been back to store and been given 3 Options: A DVD Recorder with 80b Hard Drive, A DVD Recorder with built-in Freeview or a DVD REcorder/VCR Combo. I would appreciate any guidance on what option to make. Many Thanks.
Okee dokee - now I know what the problem is.

When you press the one touch record button (or whatever they choose to call it) it will record for 30 minutes.

Press it twice to record for one hour, three times for 90 minutes and so on. You need to press it firmly and wait a second before pressing again.

I hope this solves your problem.

Thanks for your reply,Ethel, which option do you think I should take as Store has offered me a replacement which is nearly twice the price of original. Despite your excellent response I am very tempted, but don't know which one to take. I wuold wecome your advice.
Question Author
sorry,should read,would welcome.
Take the replacement!!!

A new one, with no catch, in exchange? Excellent offer.

Which store is it, so I can shop there in future?

Good for you!

Asda in Newcastle is the store. Which one should I take? The 80gb HD One?
The 80gb hard drive one.

A freeview box can be bought cheaply enough, and you probably have an old video player to play any tapes you may have.

Question Author
Thanks again,Ethel,very helpful,as usual.
