I have an Emachine 420 and a Samsung Syncmaster 152v monitor.

Try as I will I cannot get a good image on the monitor. I have changed the contrast and brightness etc but it always looks 'faded'. I have tried with other monitors which finish up looking the same. Is it a computer problem ie video card or something else?

Have you installed any drivers that came with the Monitor ?

Flat screens tend to have a defined pixel size and your one seems to be 1024x768.

If you have it set at anything else (800 x 600 for example) then it may give a poor picture.

Try to get a bigger monitor if you can. 15" is very small and many come with 17" or even 19" nowadays.

I think shops should be banned from selling 15" monitors.

Maybe you are right. But I use 15" monitors at other locations with no problem.
