Assuming XP Home
Right Click on Start Button
Left Click Explore All Users
Start Menu
Programs
StartUp
In this folder you may find what you expect but not all programs appear here that start up with the computer.

sarah: that would normally be true, but the startup folder has been in the place woola gives for every single version of windows. and it's bound to be windows since no other OS uses a startup folder and calls it that.

I hope you will agree that not all startup items appear there and part two of my answer may be needed.
