Hi

I am with Tiscali and I get my emails through Outlook Express. I get a lot of emails in from people I do not know nor have given my email address to - I click 'Message' then 'Block Sender' but they just keep coming into my Inbox. I have Spybot Search (free) and AVG Free and I run them frequently. Can someone tell me what to do?
Thanks to all in advance.

You can set up a rule to automatically delete emails with certain content.

Tools, message rules, mail.

However, as you have probably noticed they are creative when it comes to spelling. e.g viagra, v1agra, viiagraa, etc.
So you would need to put every variation of the keywords spelling for the rule to be effective.

I just block sender as you are already doing.
I am not conversant with outlook express, but. Mattie is right. You might also consider contacting you isp (tiscali- yuk!) to ask them how you might report spam to them and asking what they do about it (and shout at them if you are not satisfied!) and how you might block the unwanted spam at their server, before it gets on your machine. A lot of spam relies sending their rubbish to made up emails, using machines or software akin to phone diallers and using html they know your email address is live by sending back a message that their email has been opened. For all you spamees (people who receive spam as opposed to spammers who send it) if we all complained to our isps we might get something done. You will probably get a standard reply about not being able to control spam, but if we all complain, perhaps change isp to a more spam interactive one, we might be able to shut the ******* down. Just my little take on the problem.
I'm now with Tiscali after years with NTL.

What I did a couple of years back was to install the free version of a program called Mailwasher. The program will pull in your emails off the Tiscali server after you've configured it and onto the main mailwasher screen, where you can view details of the sender, the subject and even open the emails.

You then tick each email you want to keep and allow the program to "process" the mail. This opens OE and only the worthwhile stuff is taken in - the rest is deleted from mailwasher. Blacklist facilities etc are available and there's even a pro version available for a small donation.

Try it - you'll never look back.
