Help in finding the wireless switch

I have a Advent Wireless Laptop and when I am trying to connect it wirelessly It never shows me wireless N/w connections icon to the extreme bottom-right corner of my desktop screen just beside my system clock neither it shows me wireless N/w connections icon in control pannel. And even after switching on the wireless zero configuration of windows XP still I am unable to get wireless N/w connections icon in controll pannel . I am worried that if there is any wireless switch I have to enable to catch the wireless signals from my router. ?
