I've just got a couple of texts from a number that I don't recognise. Is there any way of finding out who owns that phone number (apart from ringing it)? Ta!

no the only thing you could do is report it to ur network and they can raise it with the nuisance call team (they should deal with sms to) and they will look into it for u.
There seem to be alot of "reverse text" scams about at the moment: you get sent (and charged for) text services (jokes, information etc) that you are supposed to have requested/signed up for. Allegedly you can stop them by using the correct response to the correct number (but it rarely works). Your only option is to phone a load of premium lines in an effort to get the service stopped.

The phone companies don't seem to care - they get a cut of the reverse texts.
