I currently have a broadband connection and want to be able to connect to it anywhere in the house. I know my laptop has an in-built wireless card - what else do I need?

I am very confused between modems and modem routers and DSL and ADSL. What do I need????????

All help very gratefully received!

What sort of internet connection do you have? Cable or telephone?

If you have cable you will need only a DSL router - mine in a Linksys and I find it to be excellent in all ways, from easy set up to range and reliability.

If you have a telephone internet service you will need an ADSL router.

If you are uncertain contact your ISP - or look at their website. I'm sure they will even recommend equipment you need.

That is all, unless you have a weird and wonderful internet supplier.

Hi Ethel

Wow that was quick! Thanks for your help.

Right, I'm off to find an adsl router........

Thanks again

Finally, is your current broadband modem connected via USB?

If so you'll be best off getting an ADSL modem + wireless router in one.
