where i live my neighbours tv remote interferes with my tv so at random times my tv will change channel. its not necessarily a tv in your case. anytyhing that uses the same frequency as your tv remote can have an effect.

Thanks for all you replies . Seems that ther is some interferance from Heathrow which is only a few hundred yards away
