Can't Get Sky Again

Nothing happens when I click o the Home button on the remote

Our Sky freezes up a lot lately. Turn the box off at the wall power socket, count to 5 and turn it back on. Keep pressing the sky button on the remote, it takes a good few minutes to initialise and come back to life. This always works for us (except when a neighbour accidentally cut the wire from the dish while pruning a shrub...)

First thing I did was check the battries, there's no problem with them.

There are at least three leads coming out of the back of the Sky box and a jumble of cables round the back of the TV. I've no idea which is which and I don't want to risk interrupting the internet. Besides which I can't bend down safely. Think it will have to wait until Monday when a friend will be able to come and do it for me.

Is it possible to contact Sky and ask their advice?  When I couldn't get Plusnet recently they were so helpful and got the problem sorted quickly.

Sorry, ladybirder, events overtook me yesterday and I've only just got back to Answerbank. I think someone will do it for me tomorrow; the problem is that I don't want to get behind the TV myself, which is probably what Sky would tell me to do. I will contact them if it can't be done otherwise, thank you for your advice.

When this happened to me Sky told me to turn the TV off at the plug socket - remove my viewing card fron the Q box and give it a gentle clean.  Put the card back in and turn the socket back on.  Then follow the instructions on the TV screen. It worked.  Hope this helps.
