Wireless Keyboards - Is This The Norm?

I've been very happy with my Logitech wireless keyboard for many years, with one niggle.

It works perfectly when my W10 PC has booted up but it won't work at all before then - if I want to boot in to safe mode, for example.  It doesn't work even if I plug it in - that is for charging only.

I do have a wired keyboard that does the job but I wondered if this was standard for all wireless keyboards.

I can see that it makes sense - Bluetooth needs to be 'on' on my PC for it to connect.

Does anyone know of a wireless keyboard that works in the situation above?

My Logitech keyboard has a usb dongle using RF so it works without the PC being on.

That's useful to know, chelle.  What model is it?  Mine uses bluetooth which is great because it switches between PC, tablet, phone and tv easily

It's a MK270
