Stumbled upon this on the internet and don't know whether to laugh or cry.  It is a joke, isn't it?

"Why do Brits speak English, an American language, rather than speaking some European language?"

Did you find it on Donald Trumps web page.

Well they do have all the best words according to their estate agent in chief.

Why don't Americans speak 'Apache' Sioux'  etc for example, after all they are the original American Languages.

I've heard one say in an interview: "Do they speak English in England?"

Another 50 years "Brits" might all be speaking Arabic! 🙄

They can't talk, I was listening to The US hour on BBC news last night and the president has apparently been visiting "Cutter"!

this is pretty much along the same lines as something heard at Stonehenge a few years ago -

"why on earth did they build that thang on the other side of the road to the car park....."

Another one - what time do they turn the northern lights on?

And why was Windsor Castle built under a flight path?

Check out Quora. There are masses and masses of such troll attempts there. That one included I suspect.  But as we all know, no one can really be that stupid yet still manage to post on a website.

.....and they can't say Bernard.

...or Cecil.

Not just in the good old US. Claypotts Castle in my home town - why did they build it so close to houses where it's difficult to park?  Built between 1569 and 1588!

Stonehenge a few years ago -

"why on earth did they build that thang on the other side of the road to the car park....."

That is sheer class 😂

I well remember a vox pop on TV where a young British couple were moving to Spain because they didn't like living amongst the immigrants.  The interviewer asked how they felt about being viewed as immigrants in Spain.

"We're not immigrants. We're British"

Visiting the Tower Of London and managing many of the worn steps, I heard an American woman moaning because there wasn't any escalators.

I've heard plenty of Americans complaining about our narrow, twisty roads and roundabouts.  They seem surprised that people actually walk anywhere

American to his wife on a train pulling in to Edinburgh Waverley station:

'Say, look at that gorgeous castle, but why did they build it so close to the railway?'

There are loads of discussions like that all I've reddit...I find them highly entertaining. I remember a very young nephew...about 8-9 asking my then future British husband the same.

Also plenty of YouTube videos of shocked Americans learning about British history, sweets, food, customs. We seem to know way more about them than they do about us.

They are experts on "British tea" though......
