Does anyone have any idea how to lift the top so that i can replace a cartridge? There seems to be some sort of restraing mechanism stopping me from lifting it but I can't see how to release it and the grahics are no use at all. Any ideas gratefully received.

Model number?

As Buenchico says, the model number would be a help. That said I had the same problem with my Epson xp-4105. My solution came from this video.

Hi people. It' a WF 2840. Thanks for the video but it doesn't actually solve my problem. It looks as if I just have to lift the lid and that blue strut on the left hand side just swings down, but in this case it doesn't. It's almost like it is holding the lid down rather than propping it up. There is only about 1cm of space between the lid and the base and I can't raise it any higher. I 've even tried standing it on its front in the hope that gravity would cause the strut to move but it remains firmly locked. I am now considering brute force but I am afraid of causung permanent damage.
