I have recently bought my first smart phone and have found it difficult and had to get help with it. I have now got some of the things on it i need. Do other people find it difficult working their smart phone?.

There are probably YouTube tutorial videos available to see how to do things.

What do you mean by ‘working’ it?
The touch screen?
Navigating around?
Getting apps to work?
You need a patient teenager to teach you.
Question Author
Zacs, navigating around, as it seems we have to find and do things their way and cannot just get to applications straight away.
you can add apps to your home screen william.
What make and model smartphone do you have?
I have an Android and when I turn it on the apps are there on the screen. One tap of the app I want and it opens.

Luckily i work with a young tech minded man and he has been a great help.
Give us an example of how you can’t find something and have to do it ‘their way’.

I have an i phone SE. The apps are on the front page and i can use them, i guess after time i will learn more things.
What other things do you want to do (maybe people can suggest some apps for you to download?)?

An example is that i am having trouble setting up or working an alarm reminder because there are different pages with words i do not understand, if i cannot do it my workmate will show me how it is done.
Did you know that the phone has a voice assistant (Siri) and you can just say ‘Hey, Siri, set a reminder for (x date) at (x time)’ and it will just do it.
You can also ask Google the same way by saying ‘Hey, Google, ……..’

That is a good idea. Thanks for the advice. Back to my question, do other people have trouble working their smart phone?.
I would use Siri for that sort of thing if I had an iPhone, Zacs - great suggestion.

William, I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it all, any smartphone is a big learning curve for anyone who has never used one before.
Oh sorry, I thought you wanted some help, not just a conversation about what a pain they can be ;-)
A voice assistant is unnecessary. I just tell my wife.
Trouble is, you probably don’t listen to her when she talks to you ;-)
Question Author
Yes, i wonder if there are many other oldies like me who feel the same?.
... and the battery never has to be charged.
william: "That is a good idea. Thanks for the advice. Back to my question, do other people have trouble working their smart phone?. " - of course, like anything you have to get familiar with it. Personally I favour android, iPhone's always seem non intuitive to me but that's probably because I've been in IT all my life. Just use it, make an effort to do something that you don't find obvious, eventually you'll know how to do everything you need to do. Also just search for ..."...how do I etc..." in google and the answer will pop up.

Yes Tora, good advice.
