..can't think why, I sort of get it with vinyl but that also seems odd really. Anyway, the Jaaaag does have a cassette player!

I did read that was so. I too am puzzled by it. It seems to offer no benefit over digital files. Personally I have a number of cases of cassette tapes, never played these days, which is a pity.
We're being played again

Same old tat, same old story.

A Facebook friend took his daughter to a record shop where she spent £45+ on an album. Insane.
I've never stopped playing my cassettes, or vinyl plus CDs .

I do have all the old media but I mostly play music from my phone via a good quality blue tooth speaker. The jaaaag has CD changer and a cassette player so I'm old school in that.
Still have loads of tapes...and pencils..splicing tape etc lol..also vinyl
The thing about tape (including video) is that you can always rewind or fast forward just a little bit, and over and over again. Can't do that with CD/DVD.
Vinyls yes, cassette no, please. Getting tangled in the machine and winding it with a pencil.
Wow! When I heard this, my heart gave a little flutter.
I'm up to date at last.:-)
Well I saw what you did there, gingebee.
I remember 8-track.
Only inches on the reel-to-reel.
Like everything in its day it was Ok and worked. Hardly the best sound quality was it. What next? Wax phongraph. We seem to be going backwards.
Thank you douglas...I did wonder if anyone remembered one (or is it two) of the drawbacks of tape.
Would this be a good time to sell your collection?
Charity shops here used to be full of them then decided they wouldn't accept any more. Wonder if they have them stashed away or did they bin them?
Probably sent to landfill for recycling.
I've still got my separates - turntable / amplifier / speakers
I gave away 3 carrying cases full of tapes about 6 months ago. The girl in the charity shop said they were very popular and people were always asking if they had any.
I think it's more to do with collecting them for the artwork rather than listening to them......A bit like stamp collecting
