I was wondering whether anyone could give me some advice, I have itunes and have been adding all my music but this is taking up memory and slowing my computer down. Can anyone suggest a removable storage which I could plug and Play so to speak. I do have a USB memory stick, would a larger version of this be suitable? I do realise there are problably copyright issues. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Firstly, if you have been adding lots of songs to your computer I do not see how this is slowing your computer down.

Songs are stored on the hard disk, and having lots of files on your hard disk (be they songs or anything else) do not slow your computer down.

What slows a computer down is having lots of programs running so make sure only the programs you need are actually running.

Secondly, if you want to you can buy an external hard disk that plugs into the USB port. These are similar to the USB memory stick, but of course are a hard disk rather than just flash memory.

These can be huge and you can buy a 300Gb drive for about 140. This will hold about 75,000 songs I think.

Smaller disks are available.

These external hard disks are very useful as you can "back up" files in case the main hard disk in PC crashes.

I'd agree with vhelpfulguy.

if your internal hard drive is getting full, then go down the external hard drive route. however, i don't see how this can be properly affecting performance: it's more likely to be down to your running memory-intensive programs, maybe at the same time.

There are no copyright issues (not anymore than the ones you've already broken by having the music on your computer in the first place).
