what is your specification as to who is "rich"?
Claudia Webbe?
for example if you earn $35000 you are in the top 1% of the world. Does that make you rich?
I don't want to be abolished (just yet)!
When I was at school , my definition was those who could afford trainers as opposed to those black pumps ,for PE

lets all live in caves and hunt dinosaurs with spears eh? What an idiotic post.
write.
Don't be so hard on yourself, Tora.
The super rich could buy and sell you a thousand times.
The rich, a hundred times.
The very well off, five times.
The average person, would buy you a coffee and a donut.
So, how do you suppose the rich should be "abolished"?
It's a comparative term. If there's ten people in a room and one of them earns more than the other nine individually he might be classified as rich. But if all are within, say, £100 a year of each other then it would be hard to call our chap rich. All of them, however, could be called rich if one was to compare their individual income or wealth, or both, with the poorest country on earth. So it's all very silly. In this country, as with most western countries, higher earners pay more income tax than lower earners, which is so-called progressive taxation. And the 'rich' pay a lot more in other taxes, like VAT, simply because they purchase more goods and services. All in favourof lots and lots of people being extremely rich so they contribute more in taxation and, potentially, enable business to employ more people who, in turn, pay more tax...
Gawd, it's like being back at school.
Claudia is prone to making statements without forethought and blithely forgetting that all attention will immediately turn to her.
