Went in Primark once - resembled a jumble sale!

Not a shop I’m fond of either davebro
No...I'd not queue for primark...though they are good for tees and camisoles ...last forever.
I only go in there when I need to for kids clothes and that's about twice a year. I don't want to spend more than I have to for a growing child. Same at Matalan.
Almost every local rag in the country will have had a photographer outside a branch of Primark today. Newspaper editors love it when they know in advance that they'll have a 'news' story that will fill a bit of space in their pages ;-)

e.g. here in Suffolk:

It's a strange business.

OK, Primark have been shut for three months or so. But queuing to get in on the first morning they reopen? If you've gone three months without a visit will another few hours or even a day or two make any difference? Do people need T-shirts and jumpers as an emergency? Apart from anything else, many of them should be at work, but I imagine any hopes of people working normally are a long way off.

I’m not against Primy, it’s what’s called disposable clothing , yep Chris, it’ll get maximum publicity
Primark store vary a lot in their presentation. As Dave says, some can look like jumble sales but their Oxford Street branch has a surprisingly 'classy' feel to it.

The Ipswich branch used to be very basic but they doubled its size by buying the shop next door and then spending millions of pounds on a revamp for the entire site. It's now quite pleasant shopping in there.
They probably have minimal staff so there's no-one going round straightening after the punters have been rummaging.

I’d like to think those making the merchandise are not earning buttons for their work but I doubt it somehow
straightening UP
There were even longer queues in Ipswich this morning though, with people seeking closing down bargains in Debenhams:

MAABOF!
My youngest daughter is keen to go because they sell a particulat type of trousers that fit her four-year-old with a waistband you can synch in because he is a little dot - nowhere else sells them round here.

That said, as advised, she has waited this long, a few more days until the madness subsides won't make a big difference.
Quite amazing to see people waiting outside Bars in Newcastle at midnight . Bizarre.

Goodness me, but at least a bargain might be had in the furniture department?

Gulliver are deliberately trying to derail yet another thread?
Just got back from my shopping trip to town. No queues anywhere, even at Primark which is a shop I never frequent anyway. Straight into my favourite shoe shop, got two pairs of shoes and then on to Millets outwear shop and bought a lovely waterproof jacket for dog walking rainy days. Delighted with my purchases and then to top it off I bumped into an old friend I hadn't seen for yonks and we got a coffee and sat outside in the sunshine. Happy me !

Thanks Bobbs, nice to feel 'normal' again for a change ...
