Does anyone else have a rating system for how enjoyable AB is at any given time?

There was a time when it was irresistible but I can take it or leave it atm.

You need to be careful not to confuse The Answerbank with Chatterbank, Roy. Given that I regard researching useful answers here as my main hobby, I'm probably happiest when then 'serious' sections of AB (such as Technology, Travel and Law) offer me something to get my teeth into; Chatterbank is just a bit of a bonus to me.

However I love it when we occasionally get new members who contribute right across the site. (Sunk is a recent excellent example). I also like to see entertaining posts from the like of Gness (who, alas, isn't here as often as she used to be) and Caran, rather than posts from people who seem only to be looking for an argument!

There used to be at least one evening a week when threads made me laugh out loud or there was a good row to read through. Can't remember when that last happened. Even the super biatches aren't biatchy anymore.

Me too. Especially with mods who remove things and don’t have the manners to explain why.

I miss the silliness and the smut, it's all a bit puritan now, I know there are sometimes young users but they generally only ask for help with their homework and disappear.

The thing that really gets my goat is the remedial class kids who take over a thread with their half baked theories and opinions and people actually ‘debate’ with them as if their theories are in any way credible. The sad thing is, it drives ‘traffic’ for the site and so is tolerated.

The trouble is, if you have an exuberant personality (as I have) and you come on here to impart some or other thought, you get some really miserable *** who just want to put the dampers on everything because they suffer from depression and want to drag everyone else down with them.

Bit less than 50% for me, Roy. Remember when you'd have a thought or something in your day was bliss? You could post your thoughts or bliss banter and a fun thread would wander all over the place. You could pull legs and tease and get the banter back at you. You'd see a name in latest posts and thing...oh this will be fun. Even a bit of a row could be innocent fun.

Then the returnees arrived with nasty, snidey remarks. Folk began to drift away or were driven away and the balance changed quite dramatically.
Now you can see names in latest posts and think...oh here we go again. This'll be more moaning. Even worse you see a name and know that it's a post just to cause arguments and name calling..... the name calling has worsened by the week.
I was chatting with someone the other day and asked if he'd seen a post on AB. No, was the reply. It makes me grumpy these days so I rarely look in now..... :-(

I'd say a lot less than 50%. I look in because there's nothing better to read, or watch, or I'm killing time, or hoping there's something I might feel like answering.
