is it just me or do others get confused when people use the real names of abers when answering a post instead of their AB name ?

I think posters should use the AB name given

no I don't get confused - they can call themselves whatever they like. And after all many ABers have many usernames over the years so you couldn't keep track
I confess, I only do that with Wolfe, I do call her Susan sometimes. I have a lot of respect for her .
I just know that Buenchico is called Chris
Its only a few who do it and I think most regulars know who is being talked about. Might seem odd to those who are new I suppose.

Not me same one since Sep 2005 :-)
Baldric, Dave, Tashi, Nisha and the other one cause confusion from time to time.

That's mostly IT related though, computers and phones tend to give better results when operators have a clear head. :-)
I'm the same tho some people call me names away from here.......
I do it automatically, never to confuse.
I think posters should use the AB name given
I call Buenchico Chris because it's easier to spell! I know that Mamyalynne's name is actually Lynne and some do call her that, but they are the only ones I know.
Oh lord, you'll set Sqad off.
I'm Frank. So there. You're welcome to use it, or just call me fatty, (while you can - diet going well).
i think i will just go on calling you Theland...
' FattyFrank ' Has a certain ring to it haha
Sqad's a Herbert...

Legs it.
A business opportunity, living off the fat of Theland.
Now then Soxy! Careful!
chris gave public permission
or might have signed his post

god I was recognised from 50 y ago by my style - it came as rather a shock !
I'll use people's real names when it doesn't cause confusion. e.g. when Seekeerz puts up the K M Links game threads, lots of people there greet her with "Good morning, Steff", so it's obvious who's being referred to.

Equally, when I'm specifically responding to one particular person's post (and it doesn't really matter whether others know who I mean or not), I might use their real name. For example, if Wolf63 reports a low score on a BBC Quiz thread, I might respond with "Better luck next week, Susan".

However if Wolf63 had, say, contributed an answer on a health matter (and particularly if there were lots of other answers there too), I'd try to avoid writing "As Susan has alredy said", because that would be confusing for the questioner if they didn't know who Susan was.

Anyway, my own real name is Agatha ;-)
Chris, I thought you were only Agatha at the week-ends. :-)
It was that way, yes Barsel , but I've been wearing the dress a lot more often during lockdown ;-)
