I am starting up as a mobile DJ, and I want to advertise on Facebook, because I am advised that this is where people will look for a party DJ.

How can I ensure that my Facebook page will be seen by the right people?

I am a complete beginner with FB - my daughter is going to set up my page for me, I just need to know what to put on it - images, etc., and how to make sure that the right people, and enough of them can see it.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks Tony - do you know how I find it?
If I were you ( on facebook ) I'd just type the town or village where you live in the search box, andy.
I know I'm not Tony (evening our kid x)
but type in the search box on FB 'xxxshire world' or 'xxxshire news' or whatever the name of a local paper happens to be.

Oh, as to what to put on your ad on FB, describe what type of music you'll be playing, forgot to mention that :-)
Evening ah wench.
Andy, I'll drag my lot and our kid and his crew to your first venue :-)
My son does Disco's, he finds that almost every time he does one it gets him at least one more booking. He always has a load of business cards with him and hands them out. He also has a large sign with his contact details at every venue. It has got to the stage where he sometimes has to turn down people as he would be double booked.
Contact local caterers and venues that may host gatherings and ask them to pass on your card when someone books their services.

Any nearby party planners too.

Thanks all - I have all the 'non-Facebook' advertising angles covered, it was simply the Facebook aspect that I needed some with - but thanks again all for your supportive suggestions and kind words.

Eddie - I know that good DJ's get repeat business, and often one gig leads to another, I have enjoyed that experience before, I have just been out of the loop for a number of years, but am leaping back in again!

I remember doing an 18th birthday party in a pub, and when I was setting up, the landlord was giving me earache about playing the right music, and not being too loud. When I was packing up, he offered me a weekend residency!!

Who says a little advertising in the right quarters doesn't pay off? :0)

You've tried to swerve the thread with your animosity, now you are trying to be 'humorous' - why don't you just leave well alone, you have no answers to my Op that I am interested in reading.

Spam posted on a Mod's thread is not likely to be there long
I am with AOG on this yes it’s advertising by the backdoor very devious, and being a moderator and aber of long standing you will get away with it double standards on here again
I thought that this thread would have went longer than 34
If you feel it is advertising then report it as such, have you done the same with other posters over the years who have floated ideas for their businesses?
generally, if you advertise you put some form of contact detail in.....

AH is asking for help with FB advertising.

Def look for you local "spotted" group and local sites, a lot do advertise local businesses. Get your daughters to like andshare your page if you can get their friends to do the same it will appear in lots of different news feeds.
Andy has got flak on this subject twice on this tread , purely because he is Andy - and I think that stinks.
