Porting Your Mobile Number

I’m getting a new phone and swapping providers. I know when I get new phone I have to activate the SIM then fill in online form with PAC code (which I have) for number to be transferred.

However, I’m wondering what you’re meant to do! Do I keep using old phone until it’s been transferred. Should I not use my new phone until that’s happened?

No idea how it all works as I’ve been with same provider for years and now I’m panicking lol!
