install new hardware wizard

when I sign in now i get the "install new hardware wizard" appearing as soon as the desktop is loaded and it wants to isntall hardware in connection with "application management".  Now I haven't attached any new hardware to the pc and don't know why this is coming up, can anyone advise?

try going along with what it wants to install, maybe it was something you orginally tried a while ago and didnt and windowns continues to prompt you thinking you still want it installed.  Failing that if you click on the start menu and access the "run" option and then type 'msconfig' a window will pop up.  Click the tab "startup" and a list of applications that start when windows starts, one of the clicked boxes may represent what ur problem is...hopefully this is of some help..obviously there is only a limited amount of knowledge i can give through words. it may turn out to be another problem, it would be better if i was at the PC myself, but the advice i have given is all i can do from here.
