found new hardware installation key wizard

When I recently tried to install a printer, the found new hardware prompt would not clear and the installation wizard kept on coming up with the message "An error occurred during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified". The printer was installed and working but the new hardware wizard would just not clear even after rebooting. I tried to putting my friend's printer onto my laptop and it installed, although I got the same error and the wizard would not clear. The only way it will clear is if I unplug the printer.

It is most annoying. Any ideas anyone. Thanks. Riptide
