I save messages on my gmail account into subfolders, such as "Order Confirmations" to keep my inbox uncluttered. However, when my phone isn't connected to wi-fi I am not able to view the e-mails in those folders. Is there a setting I can change as I need to be able to access when I'm offline?

I have the same problem with gmail on my phone so will follow your post & hopefully we will get an answer
You've not mentioned the phone's operating system (Android? iPhone? Windows?) or the app that you're using to view your Gmail account. (Are you using a web browser, the dedicated Gmail app or a different email client? You can access Gmail through any of those).

If you're using the Gmail app on an Android phone, the first thing to check is your sync settings:

I'm using Android. I view e-mails through Gmail. I've just checked my settings and "new notifications" is turned on.
Is 'Auto-sync data' turned on?
Question Author
Thanks Buenchico - I've no idea if auto sync data is on or not!! Probably not, by the sounds of it. I guess I'll have to go into the phone shop and see if they're able to show me.
^^^ Go to my link, above. Click on 'Check sync settings on your mobile device'. Click on the relevant version of Android. Follow the instructions.

Thanks again Buenchico - I've just done all that but it was already set to sync. Maybe I'll have to visit the dreaded phone shop!!
