This is amazing and quite a surprise, to find where my family name was mostly located in 1881;

It claims mostly from Walsall in 1881 !

Not known anyone from my family be anywhere near there for the generations I've investigated.
Mine says Stoke on Trent. Spot on!
I know mine means 'prince of Ireland' or something similar. .;)

Both this site and the one in my link draw a blank on our Surname.
My surname is Irish. Apparently, according to call centre staff, it sounds Italian...
Is it O'Livio, ummmm?
Newcastle, Carlisle 400 miles from where I am now
Mines from the Greek small animal

Mine's from what is now called the Telford area, which would have put us plonk in the centre of the industrial revolution - which figures.
The site would have been right about 100 years ago but we`ve all spread out now. My name is based on a Northern village, the valley and its industry.
Mine shows Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire which is spot on according to the info I have going back to early 1800 on my fathers ancestral search. The really interesting one is the middle name that I, my five brothers, father and his brothers, and most of the males in our subsequent families including my son have. This was the surname of a woman who married one of my fathers early relatives, she was a formidable and clever lady, who had 10 children and, whose family I have traced back to the late 1600s in Ashford Kent. Again spot on. Good site Khandro.
Svejk..lol..it's Moriarty.
My mother's maiden name is everywhere except where I expected
My name is from Scotland
Crikey my mother's maiden name shows definitely Wales. It was not a name that, I'm sure, anyone would consider to be of Welsh origin. I was always led to believe that my grandfather's (mams dad) family were from Scotland. But the map shows no results for the name in Scotland.
ummmm - until I 'met' you I thought that your surname was foreign. I had only heard of your uncle the Professor.
Some principality in Germany going back to mediaeval times. I have the name somewhere in part of our incomplete family tree.
