We just turn our Samsung off on the remote, maggie.
We do the same as Tony.

All this rubbish they keep saying about TVs on standby destroying the world drives me potty.

Just put a teaspoon less water in the kettle next time you boil it, and you will save the electricity used to keep the TV on standby.
mine has got a button on the back, I think its red. What does the instruction book say?
Does it have an instruction manual...very often an e-version built into the set?
Our Samsung has a toggle-type control, bottom right-hand corner AT THE BACK....you curl your finger round the bottom corner and it's in a recess.
Progress, eh?
A modern TV probably uses about 0.1 Watts (or less) in standby.

Thats 2.4 wh per day or about 1 Kwh per year - about 12p at current rates.

I'd go mad and leave it in standby ...

....of course, turning off with the remote puts it into stand-by....it's not really "off".

Very unlikely not to have a Power Button, check the Handbook
If you turn it right 'off' at the plug, it will take much longer to restart each time you want to use it.

It may lose any 'smart' connections too - go mad - spend that 12p
No Baldric, they really don't have an off button.

The button on the back just puts it into standby.
^^^our Samsung is on "stand-by" when being used, but is switched "off" at night. It starts immediately the next day and remains "smart".
Just looked on the back of ours, no on/off button / switch.
what model number?
If you mean me, Tuvok.
UE32EH5000K made in Hungary !
Reading the manual I think you're right!

Look at page 3 of this

It saya the remote turns it on/off but to switch it off at the mains if not using it for long periods!
Yep I couldn't see one, Tuvok.

Page 3 is not showing a remote control, it's showing a control on TV, Up, Down, Left, Right and Push
OY baldric. Someone found an on/off switch for that poster the other night. What happened there? I was typing up a load of vitriol and whoosh. LOL.

Sorry Maggie Don't mean to be rude, but baldric is difficult to buttonhole.

Probably 'cause I'm doing other things,
didn't see that thread,
just telling it the way I see it!
Yes Baldric, my Samsung has that up/down/left/right switch on the back.

If you push it, it turns the TV ......... onto standby.
