The chance are that your floppy drive has got a fault and needs replacing!

Sorry, this doesn't help much. My only suggestion, with such short notice, is to phone a friend who lives locally and ask if they'll copy your files to disk if you'll e-mail them.

Hope you get it sorted out. (Anyway, I suppose that it's a different excuse to 'the dog ate my homework'! LOL)

Floppy disks are really outdated now, they cause more problems than they're worth, I would strongly suggest you get a flash drive, for college work especially mine is invaluable, they are really small, quite cheap and can hold huge amounts of data, can also be read on any PC or mac! Ask your college tutors about getting a flash drive and see what they say

Print it out, email it to college, put it onto cd.

They should stop shipping pcs with floppy drives, they're basic, unreliable, and more trouble than they're worth.

Just to clarify simsfreq's response...USB Flash Drives will work on any PC unless they run Windows 95 (Early versions) or Windows NT.

If your file is in Word then it is lost. You cannot work on a floppy disk when using Word as you run the risk of losing your work completely. Word uses a lot of temporary files while working and if it doesn't have enough room for them then it may overwrite other files on the disk as well.

You should always work on your hard drive and then copy to the floppy once you have finished working.
