I have the same problem, so will be watching this space.

Firewire is awful.

I had the same problem and even got a friend to replace the firewire socket on the camera - still wont connect with the PC though <sigh>

thanks for your comments, before bying it i looked on various websites. All of which in the specs said it was capable of capuring video to pc, when you get it it gives an instruction book on how but no lead no software...

what's the point of incuding it.....

Did you buy yourself a firewire cable? What software are you using to capture your footage? When you connect your camera on the firewire connection and start your video editing software, you should be able to use some on-screen controls to fast forward, rewind and most importantly, record (capture) the video. If you're using Windows XP, you can use Windows Movie Maker to test this. Can you get this far?

If not, is the camera recognised properly by the computer? Right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and choose Properties. Click the Hardware tab then the Device Manager button (again, assumes XP but will be very similar in 98, 2000 etc.). Is there anything with a yellow question mark or a red exclamation mark in the device list? If there is, right-click on the offender and choose Update Driver. Let it go onto the internet "this time only" (AGAIN assumes XP!) and see what it can do.

Let us know what happens!
