I've recentley been having problems connecting to the internet where by the dial up log in box keeps saying 'Attemp timed out' , then it disconnects and redials .

Everything is connected perfect as in the modem / telephone line etc .. it eventually connects after a few times but it used to connect straight away no problems , i've checked all the settings / properties etc and it all seems to be as it should.

If theres anyone out there who has any ideas then ANY  ideas are welcome !!

Thanks in advance

Change the timeout time
Question Author
Yes thanks for that but i cannot find anything that relates to 'change the time out' anywhere.
What Service Provider are you with
The contention ration for your particular package sometimes affects how many dial up attempts you make before being connected, and if indeed you can connect at all.
If you connect usualy 1st time at an offpeak time and it takes many attempts during peak times then that's what it is.
Changing to a different package may help if contention ratio is less. You may also consider broadband as nowadays it can be had for a cpl quid more than a dial up package.
My ISP do a light user version of ADSL broadband, check them out at http://www.naims.co.uk (They're probably not the cheapest but service has been good.. I'm on 1mb ADSL.. I used to be with tosscali .. stay clear of them!!)
