Could someone please help before I have a massive nervous breakdown. Three times this morning I have downloaded an application pdf adobe file. I use Windows 8. I have completed it.................then it has just disappeared! Can some kind soul please give me a step by step for idiots to retrieve at least one of them and tell me how to save it to the library. It will need to be a real idiot's guide...........I just can't face typing it for a fourth time. Please and thank you.

If you can remember the title of the PDF document just go to search and search for that document. or look for you "Downloads" Folder and see if it is in there.

Thanks for your advice both but it is an online form to fill in. Back to the drawing board!
What you normally mean by an adobe file, is a pdf file that can be opened by an Acrobat reader program.

Adobe give away the reader so that anyone can view a Adobe pdf document. They sell another program (it is expensive) called adobe acrobat. When you have that application, you can indeed edit, fill in forms, compile documents and other stuff. If you do not have Acrobat (or a similar odf editing program) then pdf files cannot be modified. You are supposed to print the pdf files and write in your answers and then scan it and return it by email.
Further to Gromit's answer there are quite a lot of online forms in pdf format which allow you to fill them out on the screen for you to then print but don't allow you to save the form with the information you have added.
My mother used to have this problem every time she filled in any type of forms. I managed to get her just write the text in notepad or Microsoft Word so at least she can just copy and paste every time she manages to lose the data. The other bonus to that is that if you're filling in an online application (for example: job application) you can keep the stuff in a saved notepad document and use it again. A little off topic I know but it may help you in the future if you are struggling.

Well I spent the morning typing (again) and I was able to save, retrieve, copy and edit. So now I have the form. Trouble is I have two laptops. One is a Toshiba which has the HP printer attached to it. The other is an HP laptop which refused to have the printer attached to it. So I copied the file to a stick to print it out on the Toshiba. Now the file is there on the stick (filled in), but when I open it in the Toshiba, the info is not there just the blank file................now what????? I am going bonkers.

So now I have another problem. The Toshiba now refused to connect to the internet. All the buttons are green and it is on the right router. I thought I would send an email to myself with the doc to print out................
can't you submit it by email?

If not, contact whoever you are sending it to and explain your problems printing it off, they may be able to provide an email address or otherwise help.
