When I try to do a full scan with MSE after about 45 minutes my computer freezes. This has happened every time I try a full scan. Quick scans are ok. If I try and stop the scan nothing happens and I have trouble shutting down the computer. I also have Malwarebytes. Windows 7. TIA.

Thank you for replying so quickly but it's early in the morning and I'm a bit slow. Do you mean MSE and malwarebytes are fighting each other? I don't use both to scan at the same time.
If it's the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (which only runs 'on demand', rather than 'in the background') there's no way that it can be conflicting with MSE.

Microsoft have recently accepted that MSE fails to reach the standards that ought to be expected from it. Ditch it for something better:

PS: If you stick with MSE, try booting into Safe Mode (by holding down F8 during the boot-up process) and then running a full scan from there.
