One way is to open the Control panel and search for "firewall" (assuming Windows and that your version allows for searching); you should find that the link for turning Windows firewall on/off is on the left hand side.

Thanks Bubble, have just checked that...says Windows Firewall is off...so the problem is not there
Have managed to update Norton but something is not quite right .The last one is Norton Internet Security,I usualy have their AntiVirus one.with which had no problem.
What does anyone think of Virgins Free Internet Security.

Sorry...Bibble
My last experience with Norton Internet Security was not good (for other reasons) and I got rid of it within a month. Ever since, I've been quite happy to use Windows firewall (which most people seem to think had improved significantly with the release of Windows 7) and the free anti-virus Avast, together with regular Malwarebytes (free version) scans; I haven't had any problems since I changed to that combination.

I have always used Norton, some years now and have always been happy with it.Malwarebytes ,I had that once ,got on my nerves, kept popping up,scanning all the time.
With Malwarebytes get the free version - you can only run manual scans, so there are no pop-ups when you're doing other things.

Have you got the link for it please.
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

(the free version download button is beneath that for buying the pro version, but that's probably blindingly obvious)

you only need to do a full scan once a week or so, not every day

(it's now my bedtime, night night)

Thank you Bibble..I too am off to bed...in fact am in bed, couldn`t sleep so got onto my laptop.
Night Night
Note at the end of the Malwarebytes install there is an option to say if you want to use the "Pro" (paid for) version.

This is ticked ON as a default so if you don't UNTICK this option you get a trial of the paid for version, which will scan all the time.
