Afternoon all,

I wondered if I could pick your brains - especially those audiophiles who happen to be amongst us...

I would like some over-ear headphone. By this I mean headphones which go completely "over" the ears and "clamp" around the ear - rather than ones which sit on top of the ear, squashing it into the side of your head.

I guess that they would fit over a bit like noise-cancelling ear-protectors on worn on building sites.

Obviously I'd like them to sound nice, and if there's a wireless option, that's a bonus.

Amazon links wanted!

Thanks in advance,

Ed.

I found Bose Quiet Comfort 15 best and I've been using them for years, and they're 3rd in Which? Best Buys.
No 1 in Which? Best Buys is the Sennheiser RS 180 Open Digital Wireless Headphone by Sennheiser. There's also a closed version (RS 170) but I haven't yet tried either of these...no need to change!

this isn't my recommendation but my mate whose into his music and has silent discos at home wearing these - he's been banging onto anyone who will listen about how good they are
Tried these out in the airport last summer in the Duty Free area. They were amazing, would have bought them but I prefer the in-ear type.

I bought these today and so far very impressed - great sound, excellent battery life, easy to use and comfortable

One review at bottom of page on these, which I assume are wireless:

Thing with those HC is that they're ear-squishers, not ear-missers :)

I find they get hot and uncomfortable after long periods of wear, which is why I'm after the larger ones which allow the ear to be"free" inside the "cup".

CD - do they come in non-racing colours? :) Looks about right except for the speedy branding!

Jom - the Sennheiser RS 180 look good, would have to try and see if they really go over the ears.

MccFluff - I can't wear those!
Typically of Ferrari Ed, they were the standard red, however thw white ones may take your fancy?

Either colour is fine... but owning a Ferrari anything without the car to back it up is for enthusiasts only!

I like the shape of the white ones more.
can't see anything about how well they work but...

Are you hinting for a whip-round from us ABers? LOL
The sennheisers are squishers, too.
The Which? Best Buys Pros and Cons conclusion for the Sennheiser RS 180:

Pros: Wireless, excellent sound quality, sold build construction, very comfortable

Cons: Cannot use on the move, noticeable sound Leakage

You can test and maybe buy at Richer Sounds.

"The sennheisers are squishers, too."

I couldn't quite tell from the picture. You're probably right.

Richer Sounds isn't a bad idea Jom... Didn't think of that!

Jno has the right idea!
I haven't got on with wireless headphones but have just bought a set of Sennheiser Momentum over-ear phones (Not the Momentum on-ear phones). Very comfortable. I've added these to an HRT Microstreamer Digital Analogue Converter. Fantastic sound

I am going to have to find a Sennheiser shop aren't I.

In the past I have refrained from entering links to product selling web sites in case it infringes Site Rules as copied below, was I wrong and is such practice quite legitimate?

recommending a product isn't necessarily the same as to /market, sell or promote any product/

as long as the recommender has no financial incentive which is what i assume the site rule is aimed at

if it was the same thing 'Which' magazine wouldn't exist
