Yesterday I saw a spider crawling out of my toaster and was so horrified I threw it in the bin ( the toaster and he spider )
This made me think that this could be happening all the time. I never think of covering it when I go on holiday.
Why don't toasters have lids? I am sure they would look better too.

Make sure you sleep with your mouth closed all night.
You could always cover the toaster with a cloth when it has totally cooled.
You can but toaster covers.

Toasted arachnid is very tasty with a little butter.
I doubt if a lid would make much difference, it probably got in underneath.
Hell if I threw the toaster away every time I saw a spider on or under it I would be throwing away a toaster a month.
What use would a lid be ? most spiders crawl in underneath anyway.
There are spiders all over the place and you will never get rid of them. I remember one running out from under my pillow in bed once. Ever since I look under the pillow before I get in bed. It horrifies me to think I might be sleeping with one so near my head. Thank goodness they usually stay out of sight, horrible things. I killed the one under the pillow!! My mother always said "If you wish to live and thrive let a spider run alive" and would not kill them but personally I think they are horrible.
I'm fine with spiders but still remember popping in to check on my open mouthed sleeping daughter when we were in America and finding a cockroach just about to crawl in....now they are crunchy...:-)
And you could all have a leg each.
....but toothsome with a little sea salt...
You threw the whole toaster away? Blimey. Why? The spider wouldn't infect the toaster in any way - what a waste! Good job you don't live in my house, then.

That's it. You've put me off altogether now.
In future I'll use the grill.
Thanks anyway.
What makes you think the grill will be free from spiders ?
I have to use my toaster, Leah. This cooker was here when I moved in two years ago and I haven't sussed out the grill yet.
Two people have shown me but...oh I just lose interest....x
leah I'm with you, spiders are disgusting creatures, not least because they appear in odd places to scare you. I'm sure not the grill though:-)

Canary, I will have more chance of seeing them in the grill.
Perhaps the Ed should have a poll to establish the percentage of ABers who are Arachnophobics. I think spiders are fantastic and would never harm one.
Consequently, I think starone's mum had it right. Although having said that, I might think differently if I found one like this on my pillow:-

I love spiders too. Trouble is I think they know that and set up home in various corners overnight.
