I'm just as bad re technophobe but from what i do know it's not the physical product but the software installed, the tablet is like a desktop/laptop, would be the hardware, I hope I didn't confuse you more than you are, but i know i can get my papers on my phone.
Any tablet should be capable of this provided you have/download the appropriate App.
thanks Canary42,you summed up my comment in a sentence
When you have downloaded the mail, be aware that every time it upgrades its pages that it takes more and more memory, once in a while it is worth going into the Mails settings and clearing the cache
Don't know how, but YouTube and other videos have stopped playing on my iPad.

Would appreciate help to get them back if possible.
Sorry, meant to post this as a separate item.
There are two main software products that run tablets.

iPads (from Apple) run iOS software

Most other tablets (but not all) run Android software, like the Samsung Galaxy. This includes the Kindle from Amazon.

So if you want to know what tablet can run an app look to see if it says it is for iPads or for Android (or both).

The Daily Mail app says it is for iPads, Kindle Fire and Android.

Note the Kindle Fire is also an Android device.
