 Has anybody else found that Tiscali are completely, useless ? their tech back up is hopeless, their customer service non existant and internet provision so unreliable as to be almost laughable.

extern76 try this adsl guide click on any two or more boxes to compare them, I'm with pipex great service never had a problem in two years.

I was with them on dialup when they first set up their operation, if want one of the cheapest ISP's then you'll rarely get a good service, I too am with PIPEX,   Jedda

Been on tiscali broadband for approx 3 weeks had initial problems with BT line but all sorted. Found tiscali tech backup first rate.

 BT were an absolute nightmare, where have all the humans gone, I waited approx 45 minutes to speak to one. They said the delay in answering my call was due to bad weather increasing the volume of calls reporting faults. The bad weather incidently had occured earlier in the week, surely someone at their end is paid a lot of money to plan for such occurances. That said its was a load of rubbish anyway as I have had the same problem 3 times before at different points in the year. Its down to lack of people and a dreadfull customer services strategy. Maybe if they did not have monopoly on providing lines and we could move all our business not just our calls they might have to extract their digit and do something about it. 

Ill admit we sometimes have problems getting on early evening but volume must be very high at this time. Given the cost I feel service to date has been good but will keep you informed.

I have Tiscali in Germany and have had no problems whatsoever.
I'm with Tiscali broadband and have had no problems whatsoever.  I don't know about their technical back up or customer service as I have never needed to call them but their internet service is great.  I use it daily and have never had any connection problems and have found it very reliable.
not only are tiscali providing very poor service, they are a rip-off too.

Don't go with them.
Wot ya  "wanadoo" is go with Wanadoo....no problems.
If you pick any ISP, then you'll find people who have had awful and great experiences with them.
That said, Tiscali's name seems to crop up more than most in the "dissatisfied" theme.

I'm with 'freedom2surf' and I think they're brilliant.
I am with BT, had no connection problems, waited about 10 mins on the phone for customer sevice, once youre through they are very helpful. Just have to make sure you ring the right department number otherwise you will be hanging in the queue forever and they cant help you and keep transferring you. It all depends on what package you are on and its different customer service number.

I'm with BT Broadband, and had no problems with that. The physical wires to the house broke a little while ago and I was without phone (and obviously Broadband) for just over a fortnight.

I thought that amount of a delay in fixing the wires was disgusting, especially as at work when a line goes wrong we get an engineer that day or the next at the latest. I moaned, of course, and was given loads of free phone and Broadband credit by BT to shut up.

what do u expect for 15.99 a month lol i am with BT broadband never had any problems, and customer service have always answered me straight away!!
Whatever you do, DO NOT GO TO TISCALI.. avoid like the plague!!! It took me 2 months to switch to another ISP as they do not support migration, and Tiscali tell lies. They say 15 - 18 days.. Well.. it took them 6 weeks to tell BT Wholesale to clear my line, then it was a case of BT clearing their marker, then BT activating the line for my new ISP. If you are under a 12 month contract, you will have to wait til it ends or pay for the months left to run. After 5 years with Tiscali, I am really happy to get rid of the awful customer service in India, and such a bunch of liars and incompetent people.
Look on http://www.ispreview.com and read the reviews before commiting to any isp. Tiscali aree UK's worst ISP.
I am with NAIMS now.. http://www.naims.co.uk .. perhaps not the chepest but so far customer service has been excellent and my 1mb adsl rocks!!
