Whatever photo I load from 'my pictures' to MS Paint comes up double size and I cannot alter it. If I go to 'View' then zoom it is already on large size and the normal is greyed out.If I go to custom it is already on 100% as the minimum. Using Ctrl +pgdn makes no difference. It seems to be on a double size default and it has been that way for a very long time. I know if I work it out I can resize it mathematically but that means I would have to do this every time. Not very convenient.Any ideas out there? Thanks.

The Normal is greyed out in Paint because the image being shown is already it's normal, original size and is not made large as you believe. Go to IMAGE/ Attributes and note the size and other details for comparison. LARGE is available in case you wish to increase the size of the image.
If you open the same picture in the FREE IRFANVIEW and go to IMAGE/ Information you will see that it has the same dimensions, attributes, etc. and is the original file as copied/downloaded to the computer.

Thanks Wak, I have had another careful look but there is nothing I can do with it. I am certain it has become corrupted somehow. I would try loading another one but as you cant uninstall mspaint there would not be any point in this.
irfanview looks too fussy with its videos and movies etc so I will look for the simplest available. Lightbox image editor seems an easy one. Thanks for your advice
Hi, I don't think your Paint program is corrupt. The "normal" size is grayed out because it is already "Normal".
If you open any document file and click on FILE in the menu bar, you will see that the word SAVE is grayed out because the file has already been saved from the last time you used it.
If you now change anything in that .doc file then the word SAVE will be available to be operated. It's the same with the PAINT Program.
If you think Irfanview is complicated then Xnview is another FREE Graphic program. Open Xnview, highlight your picture and click on PROPERTIES in the menu bar to check the image dimensions.

Hallo Wak, I just had a quick look at mspaint again but I couldnt face any more hassle. I loaded Xnview and in a couple of minutes I loaded a picture, cropped, fiddled with different lighting, saved and that was that all done. Thats just what i want, Thanks again, Almendros
