My freeview box with a hard drive has given up the ghost so I need something to record programmes on now.
My new TV has built-in freeview so I just need a basic recorder, can anyone recommend one please?
Do you want HD and do you want catch up TV via the internet (requires the box to be connected yo your router and a reasonable speed broadband connection)
Not bothered about catch-up on the TV Chuck. My PC has a 23" screen so am happy to watch it on there.
I've read the Which report and apparently I need one with at least a 500Gb hard disk, twin tuners, and EPG..............god life does get complicated!
If you go with Sipowicz suggestion, the box is free but you pay for installation (about £50) and then you pay monthly I believe.
If you go with ChuckFickens suggestion here is a link to the type of Humax you might like. They're not cheap but there is no installation cost and no monthly fee

I said 'then you pay monthly I believe.' as when I looked into getting one myself I thought I read you have to pay £14.50 extra a month for it.
Are you saying that if you are already with TalkTalk (as I am)you don't have to pay extra each month, just the installation cost? if that's the case I might get one myself.
