Everytime i go to play an mp3 or whatever, this comes up.....

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly.

How do i sort this??

Have you tried any other media player (e.g. WinAmp) to check if the files themselves are good/bad?
Rip a CD to mp3 so that you're more confident that the mp3's aren't corrupted or something.
Download up to date codecs/Windows Updates (more to be released this Tue)?

Also check in Device Manager to ensure that the drivers have been installed for your sound card or onboard sound. This would be signified by a yellow sign with an exclamation mark.
