I am always annoyed when there is something hanging on the back of a door, which means that the door does not open properly and you have to squeeze through.

Everything. Especially everything tech related.
Bad punctuation. I know it's very petty, but the teacher in me always comes out.

those who ask for something with "can I get....." - like the shop assistant/barman/counter staff are going to invite them to help themselves...
our living room has two light switches. Dont like light being turned off but still looking like its on because other switch was used to turn it on. Does that make sense?
It annoys me to say "may I withdraw £5" in the building society - well, it's my money.
maggiebee why do you use a comma before the word `but'? I was taught that words like `but' and `and' gave a natural pause so you didn't need a comma....I know commas before the word `and' are a minefield...
I agree on that jamesnan, my mother insists of having stupid bits of carrpet behind her front door.

However, I would also add:

razor blades falling off their handle first thing in the morning

noseclips falling off my glasses - they are Danish designer ones and the titanium rings that hold them cut into the plastic. The bare metal "cuts" into the nose and, of course, a visit to Vision Express is necessary - they are very good and replace them for free (and they weren't from them).

dropping logs carrying them in!
and the phrases 'i done it' or 'could of'
carrot, I agree with maggie. A comma comes before and or but if the sense of the previous clause is different.

I like bananas but my mother doesn't - is the same sense
My neighbour's constantly barking dog.
People with earphones going Kerchhhhcchhhccchhh on the bus.
thanks boxtops....
Carrot99, would never put a comma before and. However, depending on the sentence I might or might not put it before the word but.
I'm happy with the comma before your BUT, maggiebee, but I do think there are situations where a comma before an AND is acceptable (and I'm not referring to the Oxford comma).
I occasionally use a comma before but and "and" as a means to adding stress in a sentence. The other way is to use italics on the word carrying the stress.

I was thinking of buying a high-end hifi system but then my partner pointed out that I was deaf.

I was thinking of buying a high-end hifi system, but then my partner pointed out that I was deaf!

Or one could italicise the deaf or the but - with no comma in the sentence
I use both, when appropriate.
Not being able to open childproof tops and lids on many household items.
