Morning all, although I was initially hesitant about fishing for sponsors in AB, the overwhelming response from a number of very, very generous ABers has urged me to give it another go.

For those who don't know, I'm running in the Liverpool Marathon on 9th October, my first ever marathon and, given the mess it's making of my knees and my sleep pattern, possibly my last!

I'm raising money for Cancer Research UK, a charity which, up until a few weeks ago, was one I thought was a very worthy cause without having too much of a direct connection. Since then, though, my 88 year old Grandad, my inspiration and my hero, who was supposed to be doing the marathon with me, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and now secondary bone cancer.

I know I'm not alone in having someone close to me affected by this horrible disease but the blow makes me want to help in whatever way I can and if you'd like to help me then I'd be truely grateful. Please, if you can, sponsor me by visiting below link, you can be as incognito as you wish but if you're unsure of how to set the privacy settings please just ask.

I'd like to say again a massive thank you to those who have already sponsored me and thanks in advance to anyone who wishes to.

Thanks also to those who've donated since this was posted!

Please also remember to tick the gift aid box, it all makes a difference!

I will do, thanks fluff, that's what I'm planning to do in work, big mail round all our UK offices on Friday, I've already got a fair few promises.
So good to see that total going up. Well done Paul and a gentle ((HUG)) for 'Fast Eddie' xxx

cheers mamya, that person giving me a gentle nudge has helped! ;)
Will be putting my donation in right now paul. I do admire people who do something to help rather than sit back sighing.
Count me in Paul....
The feeling you'll get at the end will make up for the lack of sleep and sore knees,
All the best,
Bob.
The people on AB are very generous with their words but not their money. and
I can understand that, I have seen so many scams, I'm not saying your trying to scam anyone paul......but I'd be weary about giving.
Dolt I can guarantee that this charity and the format for giving are both very safe. Also there have been a fair few donations from folk on here.
I second Mamyalynne's comments. It's a safe way of giving to a very good cause.
The justgiving website is perfectly safe, dolt - I have sponsored a number of friends and family through that site, it's an excellent way of giving without having to reveal your card details etc to the person you're sponsoring.
Small donation on its way. Good luck.

Morning all, hope you've had a great weekend, just wanted to say a huge thanks to all that have sponsored me, the total's flying up and I've a load of payday promises so I'm made up!
I understand your caution Dolt but as far as I'm aware it is completely safe, and my page alone will prove that people on AB are very generous with their money too!
For those who have backed me, I'll do you proud on the day, all this support genuinely is a massive spur!!
