When i first got my camera, it was 2.1 million pixels, nowadays 6 million is commen, is there really such a difference in quality or is it not really noticeable, thankyou

i would imagine it only becomes noticeable when you zoom in
mattk is right but i have just got a 5 mega pixel camera after owning a 2.1 for a few years.although 2.1 was good my 5 m.p does give better quality photo,s.2.1 is fine for 6x4 inch pics but you can enlarge them to A4 size with a 5m.p with little lose in quality where a 2.1 would be very pixelated and grainy.you can zoom with optical zoom with any camera with no quality lose until digital zoom takes over  which is when lose of quality would be a lot more noticable on a 2.1.
....one of the main advantages is that you can crop the pics and still have a good sized file for printing....bigger really is better in this case ;-)
