Communists? Are you trying to depress me? May day is designed for fun - dancing round the maypole and all that. Those funny men hitting each other with sticks - I think they just clash them together and don't actually hit each other. But it's fun, fun, fun all day. I started out irritable and crabby but I am sure I can do happy and laughing, especially if I don't get put off with parades of soldiers and ammunition.

i have a friend who is a Morris man ...
He dances around the may pole at dawn on the 1st of May every year.

Morris is also an excuse for drinking lots of Ale

It never used to be a bank holiday, my sister was born May 1st 1954 and until she was about 18 or so there was no bank holiday early May.

I included the guns with the ammunition. Only watched the parades on the news. Wouldn't want to take part in that sort of parade. Very impressive though.
