Garden Container Capacity/Volume

When asking a Question on our local Radio Station re planting rhubarb in a pot I was told to use one about 20 litres capacity. How do you calculate whether a pot is of that capacity as there is only the diameter which reduces towards the bottom and the depth to work on. Thanks for any help.

Or you could fill a 10L bucket with compost and tip it in twice.
...and some containers have the capacity helpfully marked on them.
