it may not work unless you get it unlocked (which usually costs £5 - £10), i just had a sony ericsson from carphone warehouse and the phone was unlocked, i purchased it on t-mobile as it was cheaper and put my o2 chip into it but this one wasn't simlocked.

phone argos or mail them to see if its simlocked?

thanks for that.looked at carphone warehouse and found same phone £15 cheaper.according to info,it can take various sim cards.i'll buy wine and fags with the £15 before both go up!!!
i saved £30 buying it on t-mobile with £10 top up and at least in carphone warehouse they will try your sim firstly for you if you wish.
asda mobile is on the vodaphone network and have the cheapest call pricing check it out
tesco mobile is on the o2 network also cheap but asda is cheaper,so any sim from asda will work in a vodaphone
and a sim from tesco will work in an o2 phone
if you buy PAYG phones from the 02 website they usually include at least £10 credit so it might not be that much of a price difference
