My Dad has 30 quid credit on his old mobile pay as you go phone. I updated his phone, so he would like to transfer the 30 quid from his old phone onto new one. He is with T-Mobile - I phoned them and they said they did'nt have a facility to transfer the credit. Though the T-Mobile shop in the high street, said it could be done, but to ring 150 on his mobile (which I did) and speak to one of the technical team.

They said he would have to use up his credit on old phone.

Does anybody know different ?

can he not use his old sim card in the new phone until its used up, then change over
Always thought the credit was attributed to the SIM, not the phone.
"Always thought the credit was attributed to the SIM, not the phone."

It is. Have you upgraded him to a pay-monthly contract TOWIE? Is it still with T-mob?
Question Author
Ed - no he is still on Pay As you Go.

Rowan & Philtaz - Not sure if he has tried to change sim over, will check. Thanks.

Thanks Mamy - will have a read through the comments.
It was just a handset upgrade then? No new number?
Question Author
No he has a new number, Ed.
Ah, it sounds like he'll have to "use up" the old one then first.

It's a bit crap it's not easy to transfer though. Could he not use the old sim card? Or is the new sim on a different PAYG tariff?
Is there a specific reason he wants a new number? If not then it's a whole bunch easier on all accounts just to keep the old sim in his new phone.
Hi DEN, hope you are well ?? xx

I plugged my phone in where the blender used to be.
I called someone. They went "Aaaaahhhh..... !!

I've just phoned him - he hasn't tried to put other sim in new phone, perhaps thats the answer. My Dad is not very 'up on mobiles' (me neither) - god love him, my son has just text him to say he will be popping in to see him from work and will he be in - my Dad has said he doesn't know how to text him back - so I've just rang son to relay message hahaha

Afternoon Redman- I hope thats all you plugged into the socket, burns can be very painful on sensitive areas. hahaha

One day at a time Den xx
I don't know different, sorry; but I would say it ought not be too arduous to use the existing credit first surely ? Unless there is a reason why you have to abandon the existing account ASAP. Cops closing in on him ?
Question Author
haha Old Geezer - nope, no cops. Trouble is with using credit up on old phone - this will mean he will keep getting replies on old phone and not new one. He has given his new number to family and friends now.

I did suggest that he do loads of tv competitions where you text the answer to use credit up......but texting is not his strong point........(:o((
