My husband has had an e-mail from "the Hotmail team" saying that he needs to supply his name, password and a couple of other bits of info as they are deleting accounts that are not being used. He uses it every day, so I'm a bit suspicious, it says this is his "final notice" but it's the first one he's had. Do you think this is OK or should he ignore the message-at the risk of his account being closed in 48 hours?

I think you will find this is a scam. Would also suggest your OH changes his password as well. I tend to change mine every 3 months or so.

Do not listen to eyethankyew! that was very bad advice!

Hotmail never send out emails requesting passwords, it's a scam!

Ignore the mail and delete it.

no, it's not okay! it sounds very suspicious to me.

tell him to log into his email (not via any links in the iffy email) and find the "contact us" bit.. and ask them.

Ignore it. This definitely sounds like a scam. What return e-mail address did they use?

What a terrible terrible piece of advice.

Not every email anyone gets is genuine.

If you do not know what you are talking about suggest you dont reply.

Still bad advice.

No reputable site will ever send you an email out of the blue asking you to confirm your password and other personal details, any email ever received that is asking for such details is a scam.
