I saw a advert in a jobs magazine from Tesco, for a independent home mailer. When I went onto there website I found out you have to pay 50 (which they say is refundable) to join so that they can send you out the information packs and the first batch of letters. Has anyone heard of them or do you think it is just a scam?

This is there web site address

think for a minute....you're paying them for info on how to make money...........if it was legit, why do they want 50?
You will send out the same letter you receive to 1000 people asking them all for 50. They then send out 1000 letters asking the same thing. and so on.

Its called the pyramid scam. Quite legal, but a genuine con.

Ignore the job offer
Forget it, you would probably end up working 8 hours a day for 6.00 per week, they all screw homeworkers

They said they do it so they only get people that are serious about it to contacting them; as that's how much the information booklet and the letters that i need to send out are. I can see why thay would do it, but on the other hand it could just be somone trying to rip me off
It is a huge scam - was it a free magazine you picked up from Tesco but not related to Tesco, or a Tesco magazine?

If it was in a Tesco magazine complain loudly to Tesco head office.

Ow, really ray? My mum showed me it and said that she used to know someone that did it and made a good living out of it
rebecca, please never send money like that, it is always a scam, i don't care what it says they will do.
Why is the initial 50 refundable?
dont pay, if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is (in my humble opinion)

Ok, i thought i might get the answer your all giving me. I really wanted it to be for real though. I'm finding it quite hard to find a job :-(
How many hours a week or month did the poor woman work ? the only ones that really make out of it are the ones that put the adverts in.
Question Author
Because they want to make sure your serious about it before they send you out the letters, JOHN
If you want to find a job rebecca, why not register with an agency for temporary work, you will get a great variety of work, and that way you will also know whay type of work you really like.

I'm not sure RAY. I just thought that i could do this for a short time while i look for a new job, as i can do any hours i want.
Question Author
Because i done it before, and i hardly got any work and the when i did i would always get lost trying to find the place! he he!

I would really like to be a receptionist but you need experance to do it
when apply for a normal job - would you expect to pay for the interview or to get started?
this is a classic scam and should be avoided
rebecca, the only thing I can say is, Can you afford to lose the 50 ? if you can and you are happy to take a risk, then do it, but if you can't afford to lose that money, never send any, Please try an agency first, you could well get sent to an office doing reception work, you would soon pick it up, you sound very polite, so you would be halfway ok, for that job already, good luck in your job search.

That's a good way of looking at it RAY, i think i might give it a go, and i will look into joining a angency.

Thankyou for all your answers

The reason they ask for the 50 pounds is so that they don't send a joker 50 pounds worth of stuff only for it to be a hoax and the person never to bother mailing the stuff back.Once you prove you are hinest they will pay the money back.
I remember a scam like this where you send them 50 and for this they tell you to put a similar advert in the press and ask 50. Recycling on a grand scale!
