Thanks.
Not as bad as Hawick which is pronounced Hoick
Beautiful town and surroundings. :))
Have stayed in Keswick twice. Lovely place.
How about Milngavie in Scotland - pronounced Mull-Guy
... not to mention Kirkubright
Or Anstruther - Ainster
the latter - I'm originally Cumbrian.
Once stayed in the grounds of Kirroughtree Country House, trying to call a cab was fun - once they'd sorted mo out I never forgot it.
You're not going to believe this Mamya but I've stayed there too!!! Had a fantastic long weekend with about 30 friends.
Really?

Couldn't get over how many rabbits there were, like Watership Down at times, the children loved that.
You want rabbits? Come to my house. There are loads of them. Visitors offer to come with an air rifle "and shoot the ***", but I love seeing them running around.

Back to the OP, Kessick, apart from Americans who'd say Kes-wick, I think.
Hi Sharon
I have family living in Keswick, Ontario, Canada. They pronounce theirs KES-WICK. I always pronounce ours KES-ICK. Just thought I'd mention it - G'Night !!

Fbg, that's what I thought. Isn't it funny we don't pronounce the W.
We have Grenich (Greenwich) for example.
Also Leicester (lester) and Worcester (wooster).
A bone of contention in my neck of the woods is the pronunciation of Shrewsbury. Some people pronounce it as Shrews Bury and some as Shrows Bury.
