Hello, can anyone help?!

Got my internet with BT and although sometimes slow, everything has been running smoothly for ages. Just recently though its started playing up. When I go into Internet Explorer (8 - if anyone needs to know that!), its started coming up with "IE is unable to display the web page". Sometimes it lets me into IE and various websites for a while, but it will then bring up that message. I've tried using the helpdesk thing that comes with BT internet and it says there's something wrong with my broadband - but doesn't say what! I've tried all the usual stuff, unplugging the hub (I'm wireless) and back in again. All the lights are lit up that should be. Used the Microsoft diagnostic thingy but it tells me that the internet is fine and connected!

Is there anything else I should be doing or that I can check? Know I can phone up a helpline but that will be my last resort as the times before when I've contacted them, I end up with someone who can't speak English very well and has trouble understanding me and vice versa!! Not good!!

PS - Can use a computer with no problem but don't necessarily understand all the problems that occur and what to do with them!!

check your bt line for faults you can do this automatically from the bt web page but you have too plough through it a bit to find it
or dial from your bt phone with ONLY your phone plugged in the master socket
17070 then option 2 (the quiet li9ne test) if you hear and cracking etc on your line, then hang up and ask for a line test from the operator 0800 800 151
i had this problem and it was a bad bt connection in a junction box a hundred yards away from my house
I have BT Internet with this new Hub thing. It happens quite often, I just press the bottom button on the hub even if the three blue lights are on, I switch off the computer, switch it all on again and usually it works. There is a link at the bottom of the screen left hand side which you cann press and they search for ways to solve the problem. Otherwise just switch it all off for half an hour and try again. Good luck ! Sorry I'm not technical but this is just my experience.
For some reason I`ve been having trouble also. It has happened a few times especially when I`ve come on here...just closed down for no reason. My brother in law says he`s had a message that one of the browsers is changing but I`ve not had it.

I've had my hub for quite a while so not even sure there is a button for me to switch it off!! Sure there's a new version out which looks nothing like mine (mine's all white, square shaped thing).

Will try the line fault option - actually know our home phone isn't that good. Quite crackly a lot of the time so tell people not to phone on it! Didn't realise that might affect the internet too.

Yes, I had a message the BT browser was changing and so downloaded IE 8 as they suggested. All was working totally fine (did that about 2 months ago if not longer) but then hey presto!!
can promise that it your bt line that's the problem then
